  • Exterior Office Bldg.

Here is a rendering that I finished over the weeked. It was rendered at 10000px wide, high GI, photons second bounce 5 hours total rendering time. I didnt have enough time to put in surrounding stuff like cars, tree people, but I will for my portfolio. I hate the grass...but i ran out of time.

So any CC will be welcome to make it look better.

    Thanks,
    Travis

good start ..... a little over saturated

yeah, I agree w/ natty, especially on the brick.

it could be more contrasty and less saturated...waht would also help is some dirt/variety in the textures on the street and road....plus trees and people....
maybe some harder bump map or displacement on that base stone would help make it pop out as well.....

your grass textures a little too much...try searching for a good grass map on this forum...there is one in a tread called "grass sheep" or something like that...

other then that...I like the lighting quite a bit.

The brick strangely enough is exactly the same color as the real brick, its a very saturated orangeish color. The grass i agree, i think i used the wrong map but i didnt have enough time to change it when i finally noticed it.

the cmu base, I tried to add a displacement, but it would seperate it at the corners, how do you get around that?

Well, beside the other comments, i also think that the brick scale OR the ondulated metal panels are wrong, the critals look flat (an hdr or a jpg on the override reflection slot would help here) and if u wanna put some trees, make sure they are completly 3d, if u use a rpc or a speedtree its bound to show in some reflection in some window, and it will look terrible, not to mention the horrible shadows, try onyx tree

          just my 3 little cents.

i heard sumwhere that photons are not used in exterior scenes, since they cant be "contained" or projected in a open space, i dunno if this has been debated to death? any views?

Actually there is no need to use photons in an exterior scene since there arent any complex lighting simulations in it. In order to produce photons, you must emit them from a surface, in an exterior scene you would have to make a hemishpere around your buildings to simulate sky light - sky dome.

Well...I tried using all the methods for the secondary bounces...and I got the best results with photons. It is very possible thats only becuase i dont know vray well enough to do it the "right" way. The photons gave me the best illumination under the canopy, and in the shadows.

Zero One: Brick scale is correct, metal panels are correct in size too, they are a loft, and it was modeled off the sample that the architect selected. What are "critals"? Is that part of the metal panel? I agree that i needed reflection, but the material really didnt reflect too much, and i ran out of rendering time to use blurry reflections. I will definatly use them on the second time, since it doesnt have a deadline.

                Thanks

It´s so real but it´s a little burnt

Would you post the settings of the scene, because i want to make something like that. I want to progress everytime, you´ll make me the happiest man of Spain, because my work is worst than yours.

Hi sorry i didnt take a look on this post before

Actually i meant cristals, where im from, this is how we call the window glass.. , and about the scale, maybe if you can add something on the scene that can give some size reference (tree, people, cars) could help on getting the right proportion perspective of it...... at least for me
