  • House in Notting Hill - Animated Film & Stills

    Hi folks,

Well, I've been a member here for quite some time now, and a V-Ray user for a few years (some of you know that my making the jump from Mental Ray was a big deal!), but I've never actually posted any of our work here. We've just finally had permission to show these images and animation to the public, although certain details about the project must still remain undisclosed for legal reasons for now. We completed this series of 16 images plus animated stills film over approx. 5 months toward the end of 2013, for a private home-owner, of a house in Notting Hill, London.

I'm very pleased to be able to share - House in Notting Hill.

A selection of a few images from the set (many more on the website, including high-res crops):

There are 16 images in total, all available here, plus high-res crops: http://atelieryork.co.uk/House-in-Notting-Hill

    I hope you all enjoy!

    Cheers,

Thanks Brendan. It's great to finally be in a position to show off this project. It's been under wraps for a few months now. I might start posting more of our work as time goes on.

Great renders/animation, lovely design and rendition. Some of the stills are a bit wide though, and stretch things too much.

Lovely images. That wood grain is a bit much for me though, it's all i can look at. the contrast seems artificially high

elevinA - thank you. I agree about the wide angle views, although the principal reason for this was to allow us to pan the images with enough motion. If the views weren't that wide we'd have been extremely limited in how much we could animate them as stills, so this was factored in at the start of production.

cubicle - cheers and I do agree about the wood! It's not my favourite at all but it's extremely close to the real sample, which is Natural African Wenge. It's an extremely detailed and contrasty wood with a very strong, fine grain, with a very strong colour contrast between the grain grooves and the top surface. Personally I agree and think it's far too bold for the house, but it was specified by the client (who wanted African materials and objects all through the house). I'd have gone with a satin oak or similar, myself. It's going to be very interesting to shoot these spaces once it's built, so we can compare against these CGIs.

awesome set of images! The third image took me awhile to understand; something about the composition was hard on my eyes. The sharp break with the coffee table is abrupt.

Thanks Bobby! Yes that was intentional with the table. It's a fairly unusual design, that table, and we and the architect rather liked the fact that it was such a strong vertical line, to help emphasise the height of the space.

if it was done for a purpose, it's then perfect!

Just superb Alex. Love the contrasting style of the furniture in the dining room against the room itself and the attention to detail is lovely.

Thanks! Yes the furniture was a really interesting side of this. The architect is ex-Zaha Hadid, hence the inclusion of quite a few Zaha products in these spaces. All custom-modelled, which was a challenge.

aaagh! I really wanted to see the elevator doors close and the elevator descend. Very nice work. Incredibly believable.

nice quality but not keen on the moving jpgs masquerading as an animation!
