    I did some more tests.
Wanted to do something abstract. I turned the gravity pretty much off, and gave the liquid a small amount of viscosity so all the motion was coming from the emitter pushing it through the space, then I used turbulence to shake it up hoping it would rip small parts off and leave them spinning in space. Didn't come out exactly as i'd imagined but it's not far off and it looks kind of cool. Rendered it from 4 cameras, ran it through kronos and put it to music because I think I just like editing stuff.

I'm going to go back to this at some point now that I know it's possible and make a video for some of my own music. Get it a bit closer to how it looked in my head, and include more than one sim.

I started working a river a while back - it's been slow going due to real jobs but I got a sim in a nearly finished layout.

I did the river layout, did a sim, rearranged the rocks a bit, simmed again etc. it's pretty good now expect i want a couple rocks breaking up the water at the start to give it more activity and I need to build up a wall on the far bottom right (or make it deeper there)
Now i've hit an issue though - this grid isnt detailed enough as it is, but it is crazy detailed already. It's making the scale look off (the river top left is supposed to be 1m wide) and it doesn't even include the waterfall or the pool at the base... I tried doing it with 10 cascading grids but it was a nightmare to manage.
Is there any chance i could use the flip solver for this and test it? there's probably about 90% of the grid unused right now.

The render scene is half done but not ready to show yet - it's in a dense forest scene with a dirt path winding around down to a clearing at the base of the waterfall.

yes of course, just ask for nightly build access.

I already have that - i just downloaded todays version and cant see any options relating to it. It also crashes a lot now...

it's included as advection type, don't forget it is still under construction and not all features are supported. for example the resimulation is still not implemented

I wont be finishing that scene for a long time yet, I just want to see if it makes my idea possible or i need to re-think the scale i'm working at. Thanks

Amazing looking stuff. I know you're a busy man, but if you ever have the time I'd love to know your general process. I feel like I understand what the individual controls do when I read the help, but when using phoenix I'm not really sure what the correct workflow is and I chase myself in circles.

Regardless, very good job here. Inspiring even.

^ sorry it's late, what do you mean by general process? Thankfully i've not worked on anything with a deadline yet, i'm still very much learning and there isnt much of a process in place. often things dont work andi have no idea why, then i shelve it for a few days, start the process over and this time it works. not ideal.

I moved away from serious things and took a few hours to set up something really simple and beautiful.

                          Thanks!
the audio is a sample of some ambient music i've been experimenting with, both sides were a test. I've decided to make a longer ambient/noise track and make a video for it in this style now with more variation and scenes Next personal project is set!

I made a full music video with phoenix!

                            https://vimeo.com/134010950

stems from the track were sped up 5x, broken up and assigned to a series of objects with the 3dsmax audio controller sending an emission rate to phoenix. then a week later with 300gb of sim files, I rendered them, comped them together and used kronos to slow it down to 20% to get the correct speed back.
