Made this fruit, veg & flower portrait of a graduate for Corporate Knights magazine.

A mix of hand modelled/sculpted geometry and some 3d scans using the amazing Photoscan. The addition of flowers was a last minute one by the client, so these are all from a stock model bought from Turbosquid.

Will post some other images if anyone is interested.

It´s beautiful and definitely show more, I´m interested! (A peach for the chin would have been nice).

        Thanks guys!

Brendan - I wish I'd thought to make her chin a peach. Dammit! At least I didn't have to deal with any fuzz/fur

I thought I'd post a few of the 3d scans I made while working on this. Like a complete idiot, I started scanning things before I'd even sketched out how I was going to construct the head, so in the end a lot of these didn't get used or at least, not in any significant capacity to justify the time I spent photographing them!

I shot all of these on a little wooden turntable from IKEA using a single SLR on a tripod. Pretty long exposure to boost the DOF and cut down on the noise and for the shinier objects (lemon and orange for example) I coated them with some grey primer and then dusted them with talcum powder.

For the items I actually used, I cleaned up/merged the scans in ZBrush, retopologised them with ZRemesher, generated some UV's then painted the textures using photographs of the fruit/veg (before painting them grey) in Mudbox.

To be honest, all of this is massive overkill I really just wanted to try it out

The detail you put into this is outstanding, but I can't get over the fact how creepy it looks. *hides in the closet* :P

Haha, yeah I only briefly considered the fuzz but maybe a nectarine instead? The scans look great, especially the cauliflower. It sounds like a time consuming process alright but the results speak for themselves.

Haha! Well one of the major criteria in the brief was that it didn't look creepy, so I guess it's a bit of a failure! Seriously though, I did point out that it's pretty difficult to make a face out of fruit and veg and NOT have it look disturbing on some level.

Brendan - totally should have done a nectarine

I bet that it was difficult especially if you have to keep realistic proportions of a face.
                  Cheers,

Great work. Can I ask what software you used to convert your images of the items into a 3d object ?
                    Regards

I'd say, if you really want to frighten people, animate her and have her blink and talk. Now that would be scary.
