There are three different types, but I agree, it's hard to tell.

      Bobby,

What method are you using to make your amazing bricks and mortar? The displacement looks great, and the irregular shape of the bricks is really nice.
I've been working (failing) to get the VrayDisplacementMod with a VRayColor2Bump texmap, using procedural Tiles material, but getting the displacement right is eluding me. Using the Tiles color variance breaks up patterns but the shape of the brick is still too regular, and everything still looks too flat.
In comparison, your bricks look hand crafted, especially in the night shot closeup next to the light fixture. The bricks are wrapping around the corner perfectly. Very realistic, beautiful work!

For the brick, I use a procedural, most of the time. The close up, night shot, was a bitmap. I used 2d displacement, but pushed the mortar in, instead of pushing the brink out. 3d displacement render time was huge, so 2d with an inverted map did the trick. I have also used a brick generator (http://www.brick.com/index.html).

          Thanks Bobby!
You set the standard pretty high on this one.

Wow, that brick generator is a pretty cool tool. Thanks for sharing that.

My pleasure. I usually build them 50 x 50, otherwise I can't save them. Once I do the map I create a black brick and white mortar version for the bump map. Sometimes I user ShaerMap2 for specular, ao, and normal maps.
