Honestly I wouldnt worry about it too much. If someone lands a job with a stolen image and cant perform to the expected level, they will most likely get let go pretty soon.

I agrree with that. And if watermarking spoils your picture what's the point? Just your signature at the bottom like on a painting is perfectly enough.
And then the best protection comes form spreading your work everywhere so a lot of people know who did it.

It's one thing when it's just some shmuck going for a job interview, but we had a problem one a MUCH bigger scale!

I work for a very big aerospace company in a group that does 3D visualization and recently there was an big company from India that did a sales pitch to our upper managment selling there "services" saying how much cheaper it would be to do renderings through them. It was a powerpoint presentation. LUCKILY, the presentation made it's way to us and we were stuned to see that they were actually using OUR OWN bloody renderings to pitch their services.

Problem is, in a big engineering company like ours, upper managment wouldn't be the wiser and probably wouldn't even had ever known that they were being shown renderings done by their own employees. All they would see is great quality renderings being peddled by people claiming that they could do it for cheaper.
Had we not seen and flagged the problem, my goupe would probably be out of a job right now.
          Thanks,

                Hey Timdog,

sorry but as tempted as I am to mention their name (lord knows they deserve to be outed) I think that for legal reasons, I'm not allowed to. My company is pretty big on the "non-disclosure" thing, and unfortunately, the we deal with them for engineering contracts.

I just posted the story to point out how this thread is VERY important to everyone here and to show the extent it could go to if you're not carefull.
                Thanks,
