      *edit* Percy beat me to it.

      The Onion is a layer tool we use in place of max's built in layers. Its a little bit more user friendly in my opinion and its two greatest features are the ability to apply alternate materials and properties to all objects on each layer. Its a great tool for compositing cause you can instantly switch objects materials to a matte/shadow material (for example) and back to the original material with the push of a button.

        that is a nice feature. I frequently end up saving the file as a different file name and then just doin my material switching in that file so I dont have to touch the materials in my main file, but Ill have to try that one out.

          COuln't find it. Found one at Scripspot for R5.1 and I'm using R6.
          Tried the old one but its giving me errors. Can somebody post
          another link. I'd like to give this a try...

            It appears that we've temporarily taken down the blurbeta plugins/scripts. We are transitioning to max 7 and recompiling everything in the process.
