I think it would be harder to set up as a simulation than to do it in real life - I'm a believer
really??...I think that given to the right/experienced people/studio it probably could be done fairly accuratly and cheaper then the 600+ takes it took them to do....but I guess anything goes in the end...
On the writeup that I read about the setup, they taped large bolts to the inside of the tires to get them to roll up hill. If I can find the article again Ill post the url.

So you are a skeptic? look at all the secondary reactions especially where the object slides down the bent wire , the wobble in the muffler as it spins, not to mention the pouring of the oil, they look too right for me to believe they were faked. Your right though they could get close for a lot less

no, I'm not saying I don't believe it's real....I do think it's real.
I just think that if they would've gone with the cg alternative they probably could've spent less money on it.......but it would've have to be some very experinced animators and physics simulation guys to pull it off and make it believeble.....
And a quote from the page. At one point three tyres, amazingly, roll uphill. They do so because inside they have been weighted with bolts and screws which have been positioned with fingertip care so that the slightest kiss of kinetic energy pushes them over, onward and, yes, upward. During the pre-shoot set-ups, film assistants had to tiptoe round the set so as not to disturb the feather-sensitive superstructure of the arranged metalwork. The slightest tremor of an ill-judged hand could have undone hours of work.
heres a test from one of my many forays into this sort of thing. I believe I used simcloth 3 for this one. I find I tend to switch between simcloth and reactor alot depending on the situation.

Yea that was my impression also egz, if it was done in cg its like, good job *pat on back* but knowing its all real is very impressive.

when the clip came out many forums were filled with these "real/unreal"-threads. honda claims its 100% real as your urls show.
i have to admit i am still quite sceptical, what i read the director of the clip worked on advertisement with honda before, the shop working on that was, you get it, BUF paris. thats the guys doing the cg for panicroom a.m.m. the clip is said to be "filmed" in paris and is called CoG...
i would not be too surprised if this story would be revealed as a big smart marketing gag in some years as once supergreg was
I agree w/ egz about being amazing that it is real and still well done......
as for BUF....yeah, those are the guys that could probably pull off this one as completly cg and yet pass it for real.......just look at the work on Panic Room ...some of the most photrealistic arch cg I've ever seen...
