  • help with a project!

    http://www.thevizgroup.com/smirk-ext.htm

Here is an image of a WIP I am currently doing. I have used straight VIZ with a dome light set up. I want to have it more realistic and from what I have seen here on the forum Vray is the way to go. I have done some interior stuff with Vray but not much exterior. Ideally I would like someone to help me out with this project giving me tips along the way. I have about Can$1000 to spend on this project to get me up to speed with Vray. If anyone is interested in giving me a hand please feel free to contact me here or at pshupe@thevizgroup.com. Thanks in advance.

P.S. I am having trouble with posting the image so it shows in the frame. I copy pasted the link above and then highlighted and hit the img button and it only shows a red x in a white box. I took out the img prefix and suffix and I at least get a linkable path.

    Regards Peter

Seems to be alot of detail in the model should make for some interesting renders, Your textures still need alot of work, but the lighting should not be too tough for this one. Vray will do you proud, Post your next version of the image when you get furthur along, i would like to see how far you go with it. We have started to get more and more projects like this, where another architecture firm or some designers models up the building and then we come in and rework all the materials and lighting for the final cameras. I think this process will become more and more common in the architecture field, when people start using ADT and other 3d cad packages for Construction Documents. Of course if the model is bad it takes much longer. (I can't see you meshes but seems like yours is probably pretty good) If you want someone to play with the lighting a bit just post the file if you can. Good luck !!!

Viscacha - There is quite a bit of detail as I have modelled some interior walls because some of the wood overhangs continue through the glazing as well as there are some funky bulkheads and wood plank ceiling finish that they want to be able to see. They also need some interiors done as well, which I have started. I am struggling to learn Vray, whilst still meeting deadlines for design development meetings etc. I would like to team up with someone to get this one finished up with realistic lighting but I must learn it as the model and textures change soo much all the time. I would like to learn enough to be able to tweak and make quick changes but also have someone else jump in and help out when I am too busy. A little back ground for anyone who is interested.

          Thanks for the interest.

          Regards Peter.

I have uploaded the VIZ 4 file to my ftp site. Anyone wanting to play with the lighting is more than welcome to do so. It is an 18meg file. I have some crazy large bitmaps that I didn't bother making smaller, oh well.

hey you have nice modeling but your sky definately needs to change. try using more lights. Put up a ceiling in the sky with an image of the sky so you can get some reflection on the building. This will add some realism if you do it right. I use rhinoceros 3, 3d studio max 6 and maya 6. The ceiling idea might or might not work but it does in rhino so I thought it would for what ever program you are using which sounds like 3d studio.

This is a very very quick test but if you like the direction i can fiddle with it some more or send you the settings. I took off the textures because they need so much work and it helps just to look at the lighting this way...i think Where are you from? Your files units are in mm. I am in USA and use to working feet. Just curious...

It's just a quick render because I didn't work on the textures except to convert them to vray materials.

Sorry to anyone who I didn't personally respond to. I appreciate all the help and time spent on this project. Everyone that sent me a personal e-mail was responded to and thanked in kind. I have been extremely busy trying to earn a living and have been unable to check the forum and reply to everyone individually. Any questions or comments or queries as to whether they could help me out were answered.

AGAIN THANK YOU for all of your comments and statements!

                        Regards Peter.

P.S. I'm still investigating avenues of achieving the desired results. If anyone wants to e-mail me please send a pm or e-mail me at pshupe@thevizgroup.com Thanks.
