Bit of an odd one this as it's not all v-ray but I thought I'd bundle it all together.
A couple of years ago I got asked if I could create an animated sequence in the style of those crazy Taiwanese news clips for the final episode of the IT Crowd, by it's creator Graham Linehan. I had about a week to turn it around and it was pretty crazy but one of the benefits of matching their style is that lighting and finesse aren't top of the list!
Without the context of the episode, I don't think most of these stills make much sense!
It wasn't clear if the episode was going to get it's own release or be part of a 'definitive' box set, but they did decide to go ahead with a DVD so I was asked if I could illustrate the sleeve and come up with an animation for the main menu. One of the themes of the show is board games, something close to the creator's (and my own) heart, so we opted to have the 3 main characters represented by 'meeple' style figures and create a fictional board game for the menu, with animated elements.

I ended up hand painting (well, digitally hand painting) the cast members and using stock photography as reference for the costumes...etc. Once I had all the elements worked up, I actually animated them in 3ds Max as I knew it would make doing the water relatively straightforward, and it let me do some subtly cloth dynamics on the sails.
The version above is a little more polished than the one on the DVD, purely because I ran out of time.
