  • interior rendering- needs an experienced eye!!!!

Hi all, this started off as a learning lesson for me, it was my first real attempt at doing an interior in Vray,, I am pleased with it so far , having said that my first renders of this room were pretty hidious, would appreciate any CC on the image,
    thanks a mill

The edges of the wood on the ground look like they are beveled, and it just doesn't seem right, maybe you should try a displacement map. The curtains are too dark for the rest of the room. Other than that, it looks nice.

I think that there should be some reflections on the glass from that angle.

          thanks for the comments,
Yeah the grooving between the floorboards is too severe. I hid the glass planes in this render, and the rug is based on the photo (my colours are a bit off)

          cheers,
          Tom

            Nice work..

            I found one difference..

I dont know if you did it on purpose..
but just for kicks.. All the way in the back ..
            where the skylight window is...
in the real picture its three .. in your its two ..

            Nice work though ..

Very nicely done. The first thing that popped up was the mapping on the window moulding. It looks like you just applied a single map to everything. Your vertical moulding has horizontal woood grain. Otherwise, looks great!

                thnx for the continued CC.
This is the most recent render , before Leo's & mplogue's CC
Leo_ yes your right --my mistake, I think I was aware of it but didnt fix it before render.
mplogue yep I used the the 'mapping acquire' quiet a bit during this file, bad habit of mine, will address this.

Anyway i fixed up the floor s it was too in-your-face on the last render.

will make those suggestions for the nest render

                thanks again,
                Tom

                  Nice Image

                  Hi Tom,
Just had a look at your image, in my humble opinion its pretty good, like yourself I hope to finish my first V-ray interior soon, I'll post an image if it turns out ok.
Just out of curiosity Ireland being a relatively small place where abouts are you based, if you d'ont mind me asking ?

                  Regards,
                  Tdarcy

it looks a little washed out with regards to the second bounce IMO. what are your settings?

I agree percy, its a little to washed out. The ceiling should be a little darker where they meet the walls. Even with the skylights there should not be that much light in the corners.

The floor looks much better in the second render. Nice amount of glossy reflections! As allready mentioned the mapping on the windows and baseboard need some work.

I think if you cut down on your number of secondary bounces or color mapping it would look much better.

Really nice start with interiors. Keep going you'll get there!

                      Tony

thanks for the help, here are my settings, I could be way off the mark with these settings, so any advice is welcome.

                        thanks,

are you using skylight? you might try losing that and putting vraylights at the windows.
