hehe mysterious Alex.....
Natty is right, there are no one and only magnificent lightning setup.
When I look at russian gallery I think that only one man is making all those renderings, all of them looking more less similar. Is this good?? Who more want to make renderings in that way? They are good but without unique style.. This is my opinion in this subject, and I hope that some of you think same.
You mean, you look at the foruma and all you see are 100% photorealistic renders? If photorealism is what we all aspire to achieve, that can only be a good thing.

this time for 1940x1440 ? very nice. Your work is very strong! Your work and work saluto is equal.
some pics for 1940x1440, but some for 1024x768. There were not lot of time to render. If there would be more time to render, pics could be better.

I don't want photorealism at the sacrifice of my own artistic implications. Meaning that I don't want my stuff to look the same as everyone else, because then no one would care about anyones renders, because they'd all look the same.

then why you're using vray, gi ect. , if you don't whant realizm?

That's not what I'm saying. I want realism to my renders as much as the next person, but not at the expense of what makes me unique from other people, and I'll go out on a limb here and say most others would probably agree. Don't get me wrong, your work is incredible, but when all the renders on that Rusky forum look the same, it no longer becomes incredible, but the status quo.
then why you're using vray, gi ect. , if you don't whant realizm?
I don't think that vray can ONLY be used for photorealistic work......one can still use GI and similars, but yet keep an artisic/unique interpretation rendering of a space or objects.......as you said before, it's really up to the artist and his eye/skill and objective in the end...and that might not necesarily include "photorealism", yet still use vray or similar tools to achieve unique work
huh, i still dont understand how can you make an image photoreal, and differ from the other guy making the same image photoreal, how do you plan on inventing the lightbulb?
You're realy wrong! Did you see SALutos, iDDQD renders? You think their works are look the same as everyone else? I don't think so!
>all the renders on that Rusky forum look the same
For some reason this forum wont let you "quote" with the name of the orginal poster, must be a wrong setting of the board, i think it could be fixed by the forum admins, but Im not sure.... in the meantime heres how to properly quote someone:
- Press the QUOTE button on the thread you wanna quote.
- The BBCode shown would have the name of the quoted person between quotation marks after an equal sign, please delete the equal sign, the name and both quoation marks.
EXAMPLE:
When you press QUOTE you will see this

Thats it, hope it helps, looking at all that BBCOde, is confussing.
So why the forums then? If iddqd and saluto didnt share their settings, they would be the only ones having 100% pr renders, a unique style and breath taking images which would all want to copy.
You be an artist all you want, but if pr is what gets the job done, and puts bread on the table(or a mecedes instead of a fiat ) , thanks all you russian guys....
icon_question.gif then why you're using vray, gi ect. , if you don't whant realizm?
Would you call Finding Nemo, Shrek, or Toy Story photorealistic? They used GI rendering engines that are like Vray, Brazil, etc...but they weren't trying for a photorealistic final image. There is more to 3D art than mimicking reality.
I didn't mean to turn this into a pissing contest, I'll leave it that I'll stay with my 'lesser' quality renders because I like it differing from others.
