  • Quick glass question

    Hello all,

I was just wondering if it was possible, following the next image, to have a glass object not affecting the background like it does in the image. I tried and search the forum and the main problem I found was the HSV exponential "affect background" issue, but mine is unticked as the sky looks the way i want it to look when there is no window. I can't figure out what's wrong and where. In fact i want a almost perfect see-through glass with some reflections from the interior on it.

I know it must affect the background in a way or another but it seems too much here, i lowered reflection but it does not seem to work, what if I wanted a pure white background....

I hope you understand what I mean, I don't wanna pass for a stupid person

    Here's the material setup.

I'm sorry to ask a glass question again and I thank you in advance for any help.

    Regards,
    Chris

actually its kinda a limitation if you wanna put it that way. Affect background will make it affect (or not affect) the PURE background. since the sky seen THROUGH the glass isnt the real background but a refracted image of the background it gets affected by your color mapping and "dont affect background" or "affect background" whch ever that it is i forget right now...that wont have an affct on what you see through the glass

Thanks for your answers, checking affect alpha only lets me having an effective alpha channel through the windows in case of post producting the image. I put a huge plane with sky color far in my 3dscene, and I managed getting sky color I wanted with the windows unhided, only problem now is that the reflections on the glass is almost unvisible.... let's continue working on that, thank you

          yeah, its an limitation,

you can go around by increasing the output value of your background map, if you for example put a gradient map in it, or better yet with a HDRI.
