  • New Vray renders of some old models

These are some old 3DS Max 3 models that I re-rendered using Vray Free. C&C welcome. Enjoy. For some reason the anti-aliasing is a little off in spots...I haven't fiddled with it much yet.

It looks like you have self illumination turned on for some of the objects.

I think I might have the IR set too high. With the snowman being so white, it's reflecting a lot of the light. I also used Photon Mapping...which maybe is causing too much bounce.

It seems like you have both high light multipliers and bounce multipliers since you have too much color bleeding, it looks somehow wrong.

You should always use softer lights and shadows in an enviroment setup like this one, and widen that plane because its bad to see the edges.

            I agree with dusan...
also, the Global Photon Map isn't the best choice for this type of scene. It's been recommended to only use GPM for interior scenes where photons don't get waisted leaving the scene.

On a side note I once heard that PEZ were originally sold as a cure to cigarette addiction. But then what do you take for PEZ addiction

Pez were originally introduced as mints in Germany. The full name Pfefferminz shortened later to PEZ. Thanks for the tips on the lighting. I usually do very moody lighting, even indoors I tend to be very dramatic with my lighting, but this was a different type of scene so I was trying something new. Thanks!
