  • Aura-Setting things on Fire

Just wanted to say thanks again to Chris for running the file i sent him as i am not one of the beta testers myself. I have a couple of more if you're interested. Anyway, after seeing the Aura demo at Siggraph, especially the particle driven fire part i immediately had tonne of ideas as far as controlling the fire. This was one of them. Basically, a particle system that shoots particles that stick on contact.

Makes me think of a closeup of the Human Torch's arm when he ignites. Could you imagine it sparking up out of every pore?

          Chris,

If you can't answer this no problem. Is the volume of the fire based on the number of particles emitted? Like if i emitted a hundred times the amount of particles in that sticky sample would the fire be more raging. Just curious. Anyway, i'm going to try and post another maxfile for ya after lunch. This one should be really cool...though the calculation times will be slow i'm sure. i'm going to leave the particle count as it is but you can change it as you see fit. Actually, i'll post my test renders of the effect as well.

          Thanks in advance.

            Okay....i posted the files.

Here is the scene file. I've got motion blur on the particles. Not sure if this affects Aura or not.
