Hello.
Today I discovered this Vray forum, and I am truly impressed about the superb quality of most images!
I have been working a long time exclusively with 3dsmax scanline renderer and its standard lights, because of tight deathlines and the need for speed.
Just lately I have been trying Vray free in some of my images and I am considering buying the full version of Vray to be able to render animations.
Until today I thought my work was allright, but comparing it to the renders seen here, I think I have a lot of work ahead to reach the average level of this forum.
So lets start today!
I post two images (done with vray free) and wait for yours comments. Please be critic. I really feel I need improvement. Specially on interiors. But I am not sure how to improve my art.
It is maybe a lack of artistic skill? I feel my images are a bit flat and lacking realism.
Or it is maybe lack of detailed modeling?
I haven't tried raytraced material effects or Vray materials jet, I just keep using the standard ones. Could this be important?
Could render params be improved?
Some comments on scene composition?
Keep waiting for the opinions of those skilled artists out there...they will be highly appreciated.
thanks in advance!
PS: In both images, trees and plants were added in Photoshop. People and reflections were added in a second pass and composited in Photoshop. A very subtle volumetric in the interior image was also rendered in a separate pass. Lighting was simple, just environment skylight plus sunlight. Render times were very low, something that I atribute to the relative opennes of the images (little diffuse cross-bouncing), and relatively low polycount (less than 35K polys each scene).
