  • 3000 seats again

I failed to render this in the past...Max + Vray hangs everytime i press render. I remodeled it and used Max and vray again...it worked.

Nope..still the old stuff. Im using a Dual Xeon 3.06 1mb cache with 2gb ram...took less than 40 minutes.

My light setup is very simple Inxa...i used vray light 3000x3000 at 10 as multiplier. And used smooth surface shadow.

hi reza, nice render (and nice computer!). do you have another light source like a direct light outside coming through the roof or is that a self illuminated material? very nice effect

The truth is that i remove the ceiling, and by doing so...i expose the white background. The wooden v frame below the ceiling contains conceled lights....and when they're turn on....it will bounce the light from the ceiling and illuminate the room below...so removing the ceiling makes it look like the light are on. and since i have reflection on the wood...it is actually reflecting the white background. (not really glow from light source) and no other light were used.

The building was done with Autocad(solid modeling)imported into MAX and added the chair and materials. reason i did it in Autocad was because of major boolean operation, and the cad files were available for extrusion.

nice this works now. looks good. So now do you understand why it worked now ?

and what would the rendertimes be with l-map

Well tom..i think the main reason is that there were models/objects with errors and now im using lesser faces...previously it was close to 7milion faces...now its just about 3milion. it is obvious that max and vray can handle a lot of objects/faces..but when you have many lights with shadow on...it takes a toll on the software/hardware. im not even using the 3gb switch.

                              Hi reza

i´ve just read a thread where egz told about his tests of the vray geometry masses, vray can handle. His fazit was, that usualy , vray seems to be able to go up to 5 million faces, brazil up to 10 millions.

So what i tested after this was the vray proxy object. i copied an object with 16000 faces instanced several times, and ended up with

167 000 000 polygons. it was rendered only with raytrace shadows, and without gi in about 1 and a half minuts. well i didnt test it with gi, but maybe your scene with those seats would have been a nice testscene to for this.

in my next scenes with lots of 3d trees i will take advantage of this.

                              by.

                              Tom
