  • having lunch..

    hey there,
this is my current project. working on it for apprx. 2hours now.

i will refine lighting and the scene and maybe the arragements of things on the table - but i have no idea, how. i'll maybe add some bread and other stuff.

    however, C&C is very welcome.

2 hours! That looks like it took 2 months! Like the hanging plant, did you model it? Great camera position.

the plant is a xfrog model with opacitymapping and SSS.
        the "bump" is vrayDisplacement.
modelling took about 1.30h, it's just
        - lofting
        - lathing
        - boxmodelling
        - modifiers (the candles with noise on topsurface).
        - nurbs (the curtain in background)

the materials took about 20minutes, they're just
        - glas
        - glas in red
        - metal
        - metal with soft reflections
        - black with some reflections
        - two SSS materials (the soup, the plant and the candles)

lighting was done very quickly, in about 20minutes. just
        - a room with a window
        - a vray light
        - a direct spot
        - gi

this was just a little exercise for some lofting and lathings.

glad you guys like it. gonna finish it tonight and post the result tomorrow i suppose.

Can you please explain a little bit more about doing the part of the opacitymapping and the SSS?

            hey mate,
it's just about that (with other bitmaps of course): http://www.chaoticdimension.com/foru...pic.php?t=8601

just with translucency checked and the settings refined.

Nice overall, but there is some strange thing with the glasses (to me it looks the refraction is not right)

well, maybe because of the ir-map. it's not rendered with high qualities.
the ior value and absorptionstrength should be right.

are you using latest public beta? this has some errors in refraction

you should refine the spoon on the right side of the plate.

I think it looks great, except for the displacment on the tabel top. It makes the table look like its raw cut limestone.

                        Nice lighting though

The candle holder look like glossy plastic.
