  • Petronas Towers

Hi there! This is a re-render from and old model I did just for fun and because I really admire these towers. The model is based on pictures from the Petrona Towers (placed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).

I am still not very happy with the level of realism ... the best result I obtained was with this dark rainy environment. The sky has some Photoshop. C&C are welcome!!

That image would look AWESOME with a light rain falling.

yeah, I love the cam angle......you need some work on the glass refelctions and the lighting......some more falloff change in the glass as it approches the top..........and yeah a little rain would be cool.....it has the potential to look like a matrix shot......with that sublte green tint in the glass

        nice work..keep it up!!

            Awesome...Really really great work.
but i guess. the tower should be look brighter.although it is in a dark rainy environment. cause it is made of stainless steel.

              Thanks a lot guys!!!!

Cocolas, the thing with glass is that as each window has exterior geometry, and as you aproach the top of the building what you see is not the glass, but the paraments that are around each floor and reflect not the sky, but the ground. I don't know if you'll get my point... it's hard to explain...

I'll see if i can work on that rain you suggest... sounds cool...

I would say a bit of depth of field would up the realism for sure. I really like it though.

Perhaps it's not so much a depth-of-field thing, but rather just adding some atmosphere to it. If this were shot on film, with that much light coming from the sky, your aperature is going to be quite small, so almost all of the image will be in perfect focus.

I think a little bit of edge treatment in Photoshop would help. It doesn't need to be a lot, but those bright areas around the left tower seem like they should spill into the building just a bit. Also, try running out a fog pass or a depth pass and use it to lower the contrast as the image regresses.

Another really nice touch would be to mix up the windows a bit. Again, keep it subtle. Either mix up the reflection intensites on each window by about 2-8%, or slightly rotate each window by a random amount. You could also use a slight displacement map to mix them up.

The exposure in the sky feels strange too. If those bright areas aren't clipped, then you could try to bring a bit of detail back.

These are all finishing touches though. It's looking good!

it looks to clean. Think you need more things going on to get the lively efects, anyway congrat
