        wau, nice work dude

that z-buffer workflow for the displacement map is outstanding.
        thanks for sharing

my only crit: the scale of the reed seems a bit to big. the real one i have at home is about 70% to your virtual one.

            Stephan,

This is rendered in 1.45.78. Are you using 1.09.03? Because displacement modifier has changed a lot since then. Anyhow, you should put the map in the displacement slot of your vray material and add a displacement modifier to your object. Use 3D displacement and check use object material. I think you need to switch off max's default displacement in the common render settings dialog when rendering ion 1.09.03. Hope this helps you.

Really Amazing. Great lighting and as others have said, the artifacts aren't even noticeable with all the other great points of your images.

Only critiques are that the mapping of the displacement isn't equal all around so it make the weave a little unnatural unless this is how they have to create curves with rattan furniture. Also, why are you wasting electricity with that reading light on

                          looks great !!
what is your Vray version ?
                          I have 1.09.03r >>
I don't know why it didn't work fine with me !
I made the same settings, but no good result
what about the dis map tiling ? and the amount of displacing ?
do u have any idea about why it isn't working fine with me ?

                            Me neither

                            I'm using vray version 1.09.03n.
but it doesn't work fine like Gijs and Lupaz.

I think it might be for the reason of changing Tiff file to Jpeg.

                            Anyone help me?

The streched version look nice too Lupaz.

                              Gogator: that's why I didn't post a jpeg version
