  • My newfound displacement enthusiasm

    Thanks to Gijs' post i was inspired to do some displacement tests and i wanted to share one of them i enjoyed the most.

    Displacement looks great, lighting could be better

    How do you get these wholes in the displacement?

      hi,

      ive prepared 3 different maps in the photoshop for diffuse, reflection and displacement and that's it

      the holes you mean i guess are just full reflected parts with some glossiness

      yeah i know it's kind of darkish
      lighting is just a hdr mainly preferred for the reflection purposes

            diffuse...

            Can you show us your maps? I'm especially interested in the diffuse map. Cane, rattan and wicker are very difficult to replicate.

            Show us please.

              sure i can post them

              they're 1024*1024 tifs 3mb each
              so would you prefer me to reduce them in resolution of just convert to jpeg ?

                        Thanks to DaForce, he kindly hosted the files.

                        Note that the max file is not optimised for speed and the hdr map is not included.

                        i forgot to attach the stone map either but it's an ordinary one anyways.

                            i have an idea, you could actually make the holes, as in an opacity map, if you shared the source displace map i could come up with it.

                              yes you can just put the reflection map into refraction slot and that is it.

                              maps are hosted above.
