Looking better ... the dark line is probably due to Boolean ! .. if you must use Boolean then make sure the object has enough subdivs to cope with it.

      Thx guys,

Well It's an imported solid (acad 2k5) in which I did a boolean operation of 2 extruded polylines. Would it be better to boolean the regions first and extrude then ?

Natty you mean the material subdivs ? Or object -> surface properties -> subdivision presets HIGH ? Don't know if this is correct ?

        I mean surface subdivs ...

Have a look @ this file .. its 2 ellipses in a rectangle ... select the rectangle then add the ellipses to it through Edit spline ...then extrude.. so much cleaner and not thousands of lines all over the place.

          Thx natty..

So what could be a simple tip of you ?

"MODEL IN MAX DUDE !! "

          okidokay

It's just that I'm used to a way of working in acad.. though it's easier in max if you put time and effort in it.. will choose for the last one..

yes, natty, but don't try to put meshsmooth or turbosmooth on top of the stack - you get crap - and it is so much needed to smooth sometimes (all the time)

Depends what you are going to do of coures ... but in this case a simple chamfer for the edges would be fine.
