  • Villa house - bedroom

    Hello,
currently working on a set of visuals for a villa house with 10 independent flats and this is the first prefinal we produced today. There are some bits like the repetition on the bed front and the name of the book in the background that we will region render out later on. Anyway, we wanted to test out grading as well as some LUTs to blend over.
    What do you think?
    Cheers

Specially like the wall texture and how it turned out. Not so much with the drapes, too much wrinkle for something that hangs down all day, in my opinion.

The wrinkles and indentation on the blanket of the second image look strange.

These look amazing! What ever you did for the environment outside looks absolutely amazing! The exposure is spot on!

hi guys, thanks for initial input and pointers!

            here a few answers..

            The curtain:
we really meant to use wrinkled material to simulate wrinkled linen as found in many modern interiors nowadays.
However, the level of reflectivity and falloff doesnt respect that therefore it looks OFF - we will probably come up with a very diffuse - and very wrinkled linen with almost no reflective properties at all

            The bed dressing:
yes, this models bed dressing is not good and were planning to change that as well as the texture on the front of the bed which repeats badly

            The environment/exposure:
this is actually the 1st time we ve done that but we photographed the location at a certain time and then in 3D we used the vray sun with the same setup. When correctly exposing the interior, the result gets very natural by itself i guess. Happy i used vray sun to light the scene and given this result.
For the interior we also used a full black "gobo" to put on the wall to the right of the camera, that way we could compensate otherwise very bouncing light and achieve a nice contrast in the image on the right side of the bed (hopefully i put that right ).

            Further work:
not that much , jsz a few details here and there, we dont want it to be overcrowded by useless stuff

One of my pet peeves with CG curtains is they are always too long, they should just skim the floor or end just above it. The dragging on the floor thing is just so we can show off cloth sims

                Hoppergrass:
i dont think this can be so easily judged as you have put it - but i understand where you are coming from. The interiors we work on, architects always want curtains on the floor and most of the time they want them wrinkled too. At home i also have curtains resting on the floor (exceeding the floor height by 10 cm). I guess this is question of taste and "practicalness" (if i thats the right word)
