I heard that using 4 DDR5 sticks with AM5 boards is a big no-no. Does anybody successfully use such a setup? Currently, I use 128GB of DDR4 RAM, as I often work on big files, or have Photoshop and 3dsmax opened at the same time, and just can't imagine working with less...

Any solution for Ryzen 9950x and 128GB of RAM?

Hi David,
While it is hard to use all 4 memory slots on an AM5 board and other AMD platforms, many people managed to get this setup working. It is hard to get the memory to run at its rated OC say if your memory is 5800 Mhz, you can only run it at stock speeds. My advice is buy a good motherboard and a good memory kit, the Asus ProArt x870E is great. For memory check Gskil Neo which is optimized for AMD platforms (TridenZ or Royal) I have managed to get 192 GB to work without issues on my side.
Best,
Muhammed

Thank you Muhammed, initially I didn't want to spend 500+ USD on a motherboard, but as it seems I might need to. Are you running the 192GB kit at some decent speeds? There are people saying that anything past 4800 Mhz is very difficult to get. I'm not looking to OC as in running these on 7000Mhz, but at least 5200 or 5600 would be nice.

You can try to manually adjust the timings to go higher, still anything higher than 4800 is difficult as you said, in my case the system wouldn't post at all
This doesn't have any impact on rendering performance hence you could save yourself the trouble and leave it at stock. That being said, fewer people had issues running their memory at stock speeds and needed to adjust the timings, but for most 4 sticks of memory should just work at stock speeds
Best,
Muhammed
