there comes the time again and were plannign to build a new workstation.
I ve been wondering whether anyone utilises these new processors here yet???
I am interested in the 2600K version...

Percy Daman's benchmark scene.
Seems to perform pretty well. Not the top speed, but pretty close. Good prices. The difference in motherboard prices is quite significant (although the motherboards don't have as many features as some of the LGA1366 boards. I saw a board with 4 PCi Express 16X slots recently! I guess more boards will come out in time).

if you go to gigabyte page, there is a link to an article where someone managed to get over 5 GHz on air cooling ...with 2600K of course
could be just marketing stuff but its interesting

fortunately i've bought an h67 motherboard

btw an i7 2600 is about 2.5x faster than a q6600 when rendering with vray (a little more with maxwell).

the two sata3 (6gb/s) channels are not affect to this bug.... works correct. In my new workstation, I only use the two channels for HDD and DVD....

Yah, I have the i7 2600k and 16 GB RAM with the P67A-UD4 and sata3 which is not affected by the bug.

Works sweet. I have overclocked it to 4.5 GHZ just by raising the multiplier. Apparently some people manage to overclock their machine to 5.0 but it doesn't work out in all cases.
Overclocking changed rendertimes at my benchmark scene from 25 min (@3.4 GHZ) to 20 min at 4.5 GHZ.

do you simple adjust the multiplier in the bios? Or did you some voltage adjustment in the bios too?? Did the temperature rises allot??
I´am planning to build up 4 Sandybridge 19"-Rackmount renderserver in near future... Why did you use the expensive P67A mainboard??
