  • GPU as renderer

Newbie here so forgive me if this has been asked before, as I've done some searching..

GTX 460 is being set as opencl renderer, but I'm not sure what's wrong. It doesn't seem to indicate that in the vray.exe message box when turning on activeshade. My cpu usage goes through the roof whilst turning it on, which would suggest it's not using the gpu.

    Am I missing something?

EDIT: Sorry, max 2011 and vray 2.0

    thanks.

If you look at the V-Ray RT render server window, does it say anything useful?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

so what does it tell me when i cant change it from cpu?

ok, so I guess I was approaching this wrong...

I was trying to switch render engine with the vray server open, which locks it into that engine. once I quit the server I was able to switch to gpu rendering.... thanks for the help, sorry for the waste of time...
