We are on the verge of ordering new workstations and they have an option of either the ATI FirePro V5900 or the Nvidia Quadro 2000 cards. I know that RT didn't insitially support ATI, but I wondered if things had changed or if there would be a preferred choice from 'vray'ers' between these two?

I recently swapped over to an AMD Radeon 6900 & I am more than impressed with it's performance in the viewport compared to Nvidia GTX 480. This 6900 is one of the high-end gamming cards & I was so surprised to find it works so well in wireframe. It shit's all over the 480 when doing wireframe as well as wireframe & shaded but is slower doing lots of shaded texture work.
Had problems getting the RT GPU working with it though that was 6 months ago, maybe it's OK now but I don'y use RT [GPU] anyway even on the GTX as it still has way to many things it can't do yet.
Hope this helps

Thanks Jamie
I think we will stick with our GTX480 cards for the time being. TBH, we don't use RT a hell of a lot as there are some fundamental limitations with it (for us at any rate): namely support for BerconTile and support for Max Tile textures. RT is pretty useless for us until this gets addressed.Kind Regards,
