  • ATI FirePro V5900 or Nvidia Quadro 2000 for RT GPU?

We are on the verge of ordering new workstations and they have an option of either the ATI FirePro V5900 or the Nvidia Quadro 2000 cards. I know that RT didn't insitially support ATI, but I wondered if things had changed or if there would be a preferred choice from 'vray'ers' between these two?

I recently swapped over to an AMD Radeon 6900 & I am more than impressed with it's performance in the viewport compared to Nvidia GTX 480. This 6900 is one of the high-end gamming cards & I was so surprised to find it works so well in wireframe. It shit's all over the 480 when doing wireframe as well as wireframe & shaded but is slower doing lots of shaded texture work.
Had problems getting the RT GPU working with it though that was 6 months ago, maybe it's OK now but I don'y use RT [GPU] anyway even on the GTX as it still has way to many things it can't do yet.

    Hope this helps

      Thanks Jamie

I think we will stick with our GTX480 cards for the time being. TBH, we don't use RT a hell of a lot as there are some fundamental limitations with it (for us at any rate): namely support for BerconTile and support for Max Tile textures. RT is pretty useless for us until this gets addressed.
