So we ordered a dozen machines with Core i7 3960x overclocked to 4.6ghz. Half of them have gtx 580 3gbs and the other half are gtx 680 2gbs. We tested duals of each against Vray RT and Lumion:
Dual GTX 580s - Vray RT scene (Seconds) 138.9
Dual GTX 680s - Vray RT scene (Seconds) 130.3
Dual GTX 580s - Lumion FPS (Large scene) 26fps
Dual GTX 680s - Lumion FPS (Large scene) 27fps
I guess the important thing to note is only the marginal difference in times for vray with the new cards. Hopefully drivers or updates fix that, but as of right now, looks pretty dismal and we are not ordering any more 680's until the 4bgs come out or the amount of cuda cores actually has a bigger benefit to RT.
