  • okay, I ordered a Titan, and it arrived yesterday. in the middle of a crunch time, so I don't have time to compare that much... bad timing : )
has anyone tried it in Maya and Adobe yet? is it safe to go for it instead of my Quadro 4000?

    • Mao let me know how the titan performs! It should destroy Quadro 4000 tbh.

        They are playing bussiness:

They handicap the Geforce by reducing viewport performance so you must buy a Quadro.
They handicap the Quadro by reducing Cuda cores so you must buy a Tesla.
They handicap the Tesla by not mounting a graphic port so you must buy a Quadro.

Mostly it is all the same hardware, right now I am also looking into a Titan, I need the 6Gb for point clouds. Curious how it will perform on heavy CAD models and applications.

        • The Teslas usually do have a video output, but they provide no graphics acceleration...

Few persons said it was great, apparently considering this one, it's not that impressive, it's a shame they don't have done a comparaison with pro cards

I've seen that test too.. comparing different GTX-cards in pro apps but not including Quadros.....

              OR like this:

              http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index...vs-quadro-6000

where they compare GTX and Quadro but only in games...!

              No clear answers anywhere.

              • I recently purchased a boxx 4920 xtreme and got it with a titan card as the only graphics card in the system. There is a significantly large viewport performance improvement over my previous dual Xeon system with a quadro 5000. I don't have any numbers or stats to prove it, but I can say that I've always had laggy performance in cad when working with a large cad drawing and now they are buttery smooth. Not sure if the overclocked i7 has any impact or not. Based on my experience, I would recommend a Titan over a quadro.

Do you use REVIT? I think REVIT and Max are a lot different in how they respond to graphics hardware/graphics drivers. I do think REVIT uses the CPU a lot for graphic display. Open your task manager and monitor your CPU usage.

                  • No, I don't use revit. Mostly Autocad 2011 and Max 2014.

And Maya shouldn't be much different to Max viewport wise?

                            • GTX 780 should be very close to Titan if NVIDIA didn't do something bad to it . I doubt that there will be 6GB version though, otherwise Titan would become pointless.
