  • Monitor 1920x1080 vfb

    Hi,
Now I have 1920x1080 monitor, and working with frames 1920x1080 is a mess with all the scrolling.
I wonder if having 1920x1200 monitor would remove both those scrollbars?

P.S. Has anyone recommendations for good and not very expensive monitors (24") ?

The frame of the VFB (the title bar, the tool bars) all take some space, so on a 1920x1080 monitor you can't really show a full 1920x1080 frame. Perhaps we need to add a "Full screen" mode like web browsers have that removes all these additional UI elements. Then again, I'm not sure how useful such a feature would be compared to the development effort involved. How many of you would use such a feature?

    Best regards,

I understand UI elements and windows taskbar take some space,- and thus wonder if 1920x1200 resolution would compensate for those.

Well, in theory it should. But it needs to be tested

im not sure.. it depends how much work it is. a fullscreen mode might be nice, but its not something ive ever wished for in the past myself.. but then ive never owned a 1920 x 1080 monitor.

I was wondering if it was possible to have a button near the start/stop top right corner that would auto fit the VFB to match the size of the render to get rid of those scroll bars and optimize the screen space.

Just the vertical one. you need a 2560x1440 monitor, of which there dont seem to be many. most good monitors went straight from 1080p to 4k which is a stupid jump at 24".

i think actually it will remove both scrollbars.. as if you maximise the vfb on a large enough monitor, it has no side frames at all. in the original case the only thing stopping it fitting on the monitor horizontally, is the vertical scrollbar.

i went straight from a 24 inch mitsubishi diamontron beast that needed a reinforced desk (1600x1200 iirc) to a 1920x1200 dell flatscreen that cost an arm and a leg when it came out. once the backlight started to fail i got myself a nice cheap Korean (crossover) 27 incher at 2560 x1440.. apparently the same panel they used in the apple cinema display at the time.. but i paid $270 new, incl. fast shipping from Korea. couldnt be happier!

I though horizontal would go away too, as I can fit 1920x900 currently:

Yep, I'm on two 1920 x 1200 hp monitors and there's no scrollbars when you set the vfb fullscreen and render 1920 x 1080. Dell do really good monitors that are well priced - have a look at something like this - http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna...=en&sku=906524

Just got a 15" laptop with a stupid resolution of 3200x1800! I need binoculars to see anything!

fair enough - yeah, 1920x1200 displays are easy to find and that'll do you.

I have to apologize for laughing but some of your comments on your new laptop have been pretty funny. I do feel your pain though, I just recently went from a 27" 2.5K monitor to a 27" 4K and if I dont wear my glasses I cant see sh!t as far as buttons and icons go. But then again I do love the extra real estate for menus and such.
                          Cheers,
