I got mine at a very good price, a lot less than both the cards you mention (condition: "New 'other'", pulled from machines never used, off eBay).

Guess I should browse ebay next time

Built new machine with a different video card and here are my results:

Dual Xeon E5 2670 v3, 64GB Ram, Titan X 12GB Video card, M.2 SSD (OS), SSD (Pagefile, Cache)

3DS Max 2014:
w = 6.9s
s = 8.2s
S+W = 8.5s

I will test Max 2016 once I get it installed...need to get some work done today. :/

NOTE: My tests are an average of 5 runs to try and eliminate as much human error in timing as possible.

We bought 7 Titan X for RT, just wondering if should not get some for our viewports as well

3LP...I would wait...I'm not entirely happy with it. While in this viewport performance test it did extremely well, it struggles greatly with a few of our bigger projects in house that our aging Quadro K5000 will just crush it performance wise. I'm not really sure why it's performing so well in this instance, especially in the wireframe test. Like I posted in my edit, I tested each mode multiple to make sure it wasn't just a fluke or happy accident. I may still end up keeping it...though I do have a K5200 on the way from nVidia for testing against this card. I kind of want to see what a Titan Z can do, but not really sure if it's going to really benefit Max due to the nature of the card. It's still a little fuzzy for me on that front.

Yep, I understand.

Not sure than a Titan Z will be any faster, as it's two GPU on the same board but Max will use only one, so it's the same as if you had a GTX 780.

For the quadro, I know, on big scene it just can cut it, quadro are the way to go.
