I think he really meant 34", referring to those new 21:9 ultra-wide monitors.

I picked up one of the ultra wides, but it rocked back and forth every time I moved; I returned it the same day.

BTW, anyone concerned about rebuilding 3ds max UI to accomodate higher resolutions should vote for this feature : http://3dsmaxfeedback.autodesk.com/f...-properly-to-u
Also you can see on that page that they are looking for volunteers to participate in the research. So 4K display owners might be interested in contacting Eddie Perlberg.

Or if you know anyone else that works for Autodesk you could always just reverse engineer his e-mail address.

I just went for a Dell P2715Q, pretty happy with it. Here's a printscreen of max in 4k with windows 8.1. Scaling for windows texts is 140%. Max isn't affected except the top menu bar. Max 2016 demo.

I'm thinking of getting this one :
                      http://www.ldlc-pro.be/fiche/PB00181451.html

                      It's a 40 inch 4k screen.
It has exactly the same pixel pitch than our usual 27' has, it's only a bigger screen with more pixel filling the blank.
So comparing a icon size from this to a 27' it will stay the same, everything will stay the same, so no issues with UI layout or scaling UI etc.

It has a great review as well :
                      http://www.digitalversus.com/lcd-mon...2327/test.html

                      And it's cheap...

In terms of screen size, it's a little bit more than if we put two 27' in portrait.

Here is kind of what it would look like, although I think the one of the left in a 30' and not a 27'.

i have 20, 30, and 20 inch monitors in Portrait, Landscape, Portrait mode. The 'width' of the 20 inchers are the same as the height of the 30 inch (1600 x 1200) so it all lines up nicely.

However you can't get the side monitors in that resolution new anymore, but you can find a lot of them on ebay for cheap (under 100$).

I still don't see a 4k solution that is really superior yet to this setup, productivity wise:

In case your wondering what monitors they are it is two 2007FPB's and a older 3011 or current 30inch 3014 (2560x1600) for a total resolution of 4960 x 1600.
