  • Performance Question Titan X

if my machine has one Titan X, would it help to put another in for progressive rendering?, or is that kind of a waste of money? Seems like a simple question, but there are no clear answers.

If you use V-Ray RT GPU - yes. It scales almost linearly with the number of GPUs.
If you use the standard, CPU V-Ray - than no.

Blago, any news on lowering the priority so that the viewport becomes usable with only one GPU?

And while I'm pestering you, any thoughts on being able to page to regular RAM (out of core I think it's called?)?

These has to be the two biggest hurdles in making RT GPU more useful, especially now that some of the competition has it.

We are testing a low priority option at the moment.
In the nightlies we have added mode allowing to load more textures in the GPU memory, than before. We will not call it out-of-core, since all those approaches are not really that, even if it sounds very cool . Some stuff showed up there that I have to look at and fix, hopefully soon. On top of that, the nightly V-Ray version use less memory for the traditional mode as well, by auto detecting he number of channels a texture needs (1, 3 or 4).
