Yeah i saw that, I get 2mins on my 8 core extreme intel so this is more than twice as fast

I just bought a 1950x. Good first impressions. 48sec benchmark with no OCing.

My intel laptop buckets appear the same as my AMD computers when DBRing.

Note: if you can't get windows 10 to install on the new hardware - download the latest windows via windows media creation tool and tell it to create a bootable USB. I have a retail version on USB that stopped at the blue windows logo.

If you can't even get to bios then pull a couple of sticks of ram out and then update your bios.

I have a threadripper 1950x OC to 3.8ghz, I get a 3303 on cinebench and a 41sec for Vray. Waiting on my new AIO to overclock to 4.0-4.1ghz, looking forward to seeing the score then.

Is anyone here using the Gigabyte Aorus X399? (I figure there's a fair chance because there are only 5 or so motherboards out at present)
If so, are you able to find a cooler that doesn't obstruct the nearest RAM slots?

I have a corsair h115i - didn't block the slots but very close. It's hot where I live so upgrading it to a custom setup using an "ek supremacy evo threadripper" water block. I've not installed it yet but it's slimmer again.

Does anyone know if the Threadripper has built-in graphics, like INTEL Cpu's?

This looks like it is worth a shot, but i am thinking about going only for the CPU power, but with the option of adding a number of GPU's later on.

no, no integrated. Ryzen doesn't have integrated either (and neither does Intel in this range). Remember, these are HEDT/workstation (high end desk top) class chips, and that isn't usually required - they figure "hey, if they are dropping minimum $1,000 on a cpu alone, then they can afford a $50 standalone gpu card to get the job done"

Thanks! I already got hold of a 1950x with a 1080 gtx so i actually forgot about it. Good to know

Allright! we orderer 5 x 1950x systems and 2 come with 2x 1080ti.. i hope distributed RT rendering with the cards in different systems works good.. if so we still can put 6 more in the 3 render boxes that have only a passiv 1030 placeholder sausage card.
cant wait to get it running and also switching back to 3dsmax 2016 for production. I am done with 2017 and 2018.. its garbage.

I am super excited! And with 2 1080ti it should be Vieportworking 2.0.

Ill try OC too if its kind of stable but if its making too much heat than ill leave it. We have the biggest 3 fan watercooling stuff on the cpu so it should stay ok when using for more than a day rendering.

====Thanks for a lot of infos here regarding Threadripper stuff!! this helped me a lot! Thanks Guys!

What clock speeds are you guys getting when maxed out at full load? For a few weeks while mine was rendering with all cores clocked at 3.7Ghz.

My current animation camera path is only clocking all cores to 3.55Ghz. I haven't figured out a pattern yet as to why it runs faster at times. Heat isn't an issue - because I've installed air conditioning in my office and I've only noticed the slower speed after installing it.

have two near identical systems running at the same clock speed - I built the second one a few days ago.

I've just got the Threadripper. At stock frequency that thing is more than 3 times faster than my old CPU (6-core 4930k), wow! I can get 3.9-4.0 Ghz with Noctua NH-D14S.

DPS If I don't overclock mine it stays between 3.4 and 3.7 Ghz under load, just like you observed yourself. Interestingly, when idle it stays at 3.9-4.0 Ghz.

Should it be overclocked? havent touched that in years... but i guess watercooling makes it possible. Stabilty is more important than a few percent eztra speed imo

Alex_M With regard to your clock speeds when rendering - are all cores hitting 3.7GHz under full load? Mine were doing this but now in vray they only seem to be clicking to 3.5GHz.

They go up to 4GHz + when doing other tasks. Including all cores at 3.7 so im wondering whether it's somehow related to particular vray usuage.

Stupendousman you don't need to doing anything to overclock it - it does this automatically.
