  • GPU advice for interactive mode

My workflow is CPU based, DR sent to the farm via BB. However, I really love working with the interactive frame buffer when setting up, especially the lighting. My workstation has two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 cards (6GB ea). Of course only one is used for the interactive stuff, but I'm wondering if there's a faster option out there? I've been reading about the 1080 Ti, but it looks like there's mixed results with GPU rendering? How would it work with interactive? Would it be faster than what I'm doing now? Large scenes take a long time as interactive. Thanks.

V-Ray GPU is a different engine compared to V-Ray Adv. Here is a short guide about it.

Thanks, but that guide is all about V-Ray GPU RT. I want to know more about V-Ray Adv and the interactive frame buffer. Or specifically, if I'd see a bump in performance with a newer GPU.

If you use V-Ray Adv, getting new GPU will not give any bump in the performance (the only thing that will get faster is denoising and probably lens effects, but I am pretty sure that you are looking for different kind of performance).
For V-Ray Adv interactive rendering, getting faster CPUs is what will help - AMD Ryzen7 (or Threadripper) and Intel i7(or i9) both perform great

          Hi!
Yeah i can confirm this with the threadripper interactive render performance.
Right now this is more fun and faster to use for me then the 2x1080ti wit h RT.
Its crazy fast to setup some light with this and i love the instant startup and reaction time!
