i switched to Vray RT GPU completely, because the speed enables me to render complete animations with decent quality on my workstation with two 980ti and one 1080ti.
And warming up my office in winter
My hardware is at its GPU maximum because of space in the case, I am thinking about buying graphic cards for another machine and use it with distributed rendering, since
I own render slave licenses.
I built an old machine with a gtx670 I already had, connected it through a network cable to my workstation and tried Vray RT GPU distributed rendering.
It works great, but I can?t really tell the gain of speed, because the 670 is pretty slow now.
So I?m thinking about buying two 1070GTX f?r the slave system.
Before that, I would like to know the approximately speed loss because of the network connection. I?m aware that it won?t be as fast, as if all GPUs were installed in the client
system, but how much slower will it be?
I?m also thinking about lending a 1070 or 1080gtx somewhere and testing it out.
