  • Quicktime Objectpanorame , how ?

    Hi You all

We´ve been asked, if theres a way to do Quicktime objectpanoramas with max and vray,

some years ago it did work with QuicktimeVR 2, now i dont know what there exists for max 7, and the panoramaexporter of max7 doesnt do objectpanoramas.

How do you solve this problem ?

    Tom

I think Tom means Object Vr not camera Vr .. where you spin the object.

Yes i mean the object VR, its a way of Quicktimefilm, where you can rotate Virtualy arround a selected object in the center.

          upps...
          sorry for overlooking that

there are several object movie stitcher apps out there (just google).
but the drawback compared to qtVR would be, that you have to set the cameras manually in max.
maybe some maxscript similar to sykdomes, but with cameras instead of light, could automate that.

            Tom,

I use VR object Worx, it's not perfect but it's the best I found for PC, it seems there is a lot more and better tools for macs to do this kinda job.

                http://www.kaon.com/software/?about

                this sort of thing?

free 90 day demo on the kaon site...

looks like it's a VRML thing - i don't think VRML output supports vray materials though...

                  @ sureal thanks.

                  but this is realtime vr.

What we need is to render parfum flacons that have alll refractions, glossys, caustix and so on,

                  But ,

if you know a realtimetool for desktop that can do this, we all dont mind if you tell us

                  Tom

@ suurland, thanks, i´ve allready found this tool. Seems to be a standalone, but if it works, its worth it.

hmm no one knows if quicktime Vr for max 7 exists ?´

The last time I had to do this, I still had access to a copy of QTVR from apple (only runs on Mac OS9 and before) so what I did was setup a camera in max that started on the horizon then rotated 10 degrees around the Z axis for each of 36 frames, then it jumped up 10 degrees from the XY plane and went around again, etc, untill there was a frame for every one of the 360 angles. (this was fairly easy to setup on the timeline).

Then I just rendered the animation to a series of targas I think, and brought that into QTVR to stitch it togethor into a VR.

here's the result - make sure you open it with QuickTime

Oh, and using this method I was able to run everything through some photoshop batch filters first. I think this predates my usage of VRay. I have no idea what I'm going to do the next time we need to do a QTVR since we've been moving away from the OS9 machines.

                            Tom,

It works, but something as simple as loading the frames it should use is really slow, but beside that it works fine and you can save templates and so on. The speed is just annoy if you have to make 100 of them for example.

Also you should reconsider using a plugin for max to make these as you can't do any post on the images then.

For reference this is made with the program I mentioned: http://www.suurland.com/portfolio_st...eetle_qtvr.htm
