  • MAX Renewal

My vendor got bought out and I was just told that AD no longer does quarterly subscriptions. The new vendor sent me an annual for $1600, but I just saw an annual on AD website for $1200. The vendor said it is a flash sale and not for subscription renewals. Are all you guys doing annuals? I guess the only other option is three year subscriptions.

      Who cares?
When your subscription lapses, dont renew it. Just get a totally new subscription for that discounted price? Can't you do that? Or perhaps that price is when you trade in your perpetual or something similar> Read the fine print

You're in the US, why don't you just buy straight of the Autodesk online store?

I don't know. I also don't know the benefits of using a reseller.

I'm paying maintenance, it's around 1200 per year for Autocad, Revit, 3ds max and a couple more app, cloud storage, rendering and support that I never use them.
          show me the money!!

Why in the world would I be paying $1600 a year for just 3DS MAX?

Yes, my person said it is for new subscribers only. I'll see what happens if I purchase from AD.

How are they selling suites for less than just 3DS MAX? I don't get it. Are they bribing you to leave maintenance and then they'll crank it up to what the rest of us pay after a year?

Well, last year, our good reseller bypassed me and went directly to our accountant, who have no clue about Autodesk policies and licenses, and convinced her to trade our perpetuals for rental (we have around 25 licenses of various AD products). As much as I was pissed about that gimmick from his part, the reseller supposedly garanteed no price hike as long as we keep those rentals alive...

So yes, it was a trade in for a bunch of perpectual licenses that we paid in full back then...

They will bite you, I guarantee that. They just pulled the quarterly rug out from under me without notice.

I paid my annual subscription yesterday for 825 Euros. They did contact me with very misleading offer: "3DS Max Subscription vuokra / 1 vuosi" (one year rental) with almost the same price. I was about to confirm my order based on bold font statement, but then I noticed it was rental. It seems their strategy was to make customer change perpetual license into rental one by accident. I gave them feedback on that.

The price was 75 Euros higher than last year, 110 euros higher compared to 2017 and 160 Euros higher than 2016. Between 2015 and 2016 there was no price change.

The plan is to hike up maintenace fees until it tops the rental fee, so you'll feel you make a good deal to switch to rental...then you're locked in.
