Export it as 3ds by material. . I helped an architectural firm on a big project and it was shocking to me that most of the people only know revit...a couple of 40 photoshop and 4 SketchUp (terribly bad) and they know very well BASIC LEVEL of Revit (a lot 2D faking 3D)

I don't own SU and I am not about to pay $1200 a year. Yes, they got on the subscription bandwagon, too.Bobby Parker

Yeah, people seem to know just enough to get themselves in trouble. I just got a list of questions, from an Architect, looking for a studio to do their renderings. The list was straight off the "I have been paying people in China for years, how do you work" playbook.
How much per image? I don't charge per image, I charge per project.
How much for your 360's? Same as the first question
How much are your aerials? Please, see above
If I give you red-lines by 5 pm will you have the corrections by morning? Hell No! Like you, I like to sleep.
Will you discount if I give you a 3D model? No! I'll charge you more.
Will you give me your model when done so we can finish it in-house? No, I am not your 3rd shift CAD-TECH (not that anything is wrong with being a CAD-TECH)
They obviously think what we do is easy and have no appreciation for the craft. This guy said that he has had some really bad experiences with studios and I am assuming it is these fly-by-night Chinese companies and they were chosen for their cheap price. I am just surprised that they expected success.

heh, apologies straight away but I just have to say that.
”no appreciation for the craft”? the craft of not knowing how to handle the most popular 3d format of modern architecture? charging more for sending info as su file??
accept the changes in the industry. buy su. learn a bit, just enough for some quick cleanup.
or at least ask for 3ds export (single object, vertex welding priority over uvs). it will do wonders for your well being.Marcin Piotrowski

SketchUp is the same story as 3dsmax, they're counting on the community to make the software better. I love SketchUp but they should invest in making it better. Still I don't use it anymore as I made a complete switch to 3dsmax, but once in a while I have to clean up a model in SketchUp before importing and I do miss the ease of use sometimes

For the record. I didn't respond to the questions like above . I was respectful, but I found the questions odd and very telling.Bobby Parker
