what, because Max did not have tomorrow's technology yesterday it is shit?
Real time rendering is only now becoming a reality..and still a bit off til it is
really usable.
---------------------------------------------------
MSN addresses are not for newbies or warez users to contact the pros and bug them with
stupid questions the forum can answer.
well.. as longer I work with max.. as more plausible the ms theory seems
to me
no seriously I don´t want to say max is completely bullshit.
Don ´t get me wrong I of course do not expect from discreet to implement realtime raytracing immediately.
I was just
wondering (again) that discreet implements more and more super fancy (useless)
features and does not care about a lot of things/bugs user are complaining
for years (editpoly performance for example.. wich is fast in other software).
And polycount is one of the most essential things in my eyes. More essential
than some loosy implemented hair tools. But polycount wouldn´t be
a good sales argument for the "marketing(sorry)monkeys" !!
I mean the vray proxies prove that it is possible to render
enormous amounts of polys without running out of memory.
But to change that (pure speculation) they probabely have to change the core.... .... ah yes the story of the new core
.. lol.. a fairytale that pops up from time to time.
However
How does other 3d packages handle high poycounts ?
Is it possible to render for example 20mio polys
by default with maya softimage lightwave and so on ?
I heard it is possible but never could test it myself.
And how does Renderman handle high polycounts...
due to it´s a scanliner and not a raytracer ?
you cant really compare it can you. Im sure that max needs to hold track of far more ( faaar more ) data 'per poly' and other structures aswell, than any realtime engine since max is designed to be a working environment whereas a realtime engine is designed to be a..well...realtime engine
dudes...ok then what would you wish for in new max? I mean holding 20 mil poly is quite a job and I dont think any other software can handle that. Not without custom api. And render man is all that.
im sure that is coming..but, does this mean rewriting the software from gound up?
I think if it is, then batter get a rock solid packedge out first then do modifications to it. Max 7 is just a stability improvement over max 6.
I have it from a very reliable source (in Guerilla) that the Killzone videos are pre-rendered, but are meant to represent what they expect to be able to do realtime.
nah....hocky is one game...in hollodeck you could be a commander in battle thats is "real" great physical exersice and lots of fun...(make sure safety protocols are on) hahahaha
