nice image. I think the maxwell sky, used by so many is one of the reasons they are easy to recognize. Also, I think alot of people turn on the sky, dont really change the sky settings, which creates the same skylight color, shadows and so on.

You render looks great. I agree with the Maxwell sky although the lighting it generates is fantastic. Once (or if) they get clouds, stars, and the sun then things will get ineresting.

You should see the new Vray Sun/Sky... it looks exactly the same... You know why? Because they are both based on the same freaking Siggraph paper. Same will be true with finalRender one when that comes out.

I challenge all of you... if you think it is the user and not the rendering engine (and I agree with you), then lets all make an effort and push for an updated Gallery. Lets push for higher standards.

BTW... I think it would be really great if we made scene that Vlado and Peter can use for demos. So if you have tried a new feature and like it, as an artist, push it aesthetically and give if to them.

I agree, the gallery is not representative of the quality of work I've seen here on the forums, it should be updated.

This seems like the perfect oppurtunity to revitalize the competition threads

I'm trying to find where that was posted on the Maxwell forum. I'll bet the crits were more constructive than you gave the folks over there credit for.

hmmm... this gives me an idea...

                  three things:
                  First: A commity or artists
                  Then two new Galleries:
1 - the traditional Gallery of cool work.
                  2 - a features gallery, the a competition

what do yu think? PM me if you are interested, this will take some logistics

i dont see a point of this conversation, since maxwell is just another tool in the arms of the artist.
granted it makes things a little easier however its all in the artit's hands. For all its worth even today I come around images made in scanline which are as stunning as vray/brazil/maxwell or anything else.

                      /me applauds Morbid angel...

There´s even very very old scanline renderings that are qualitywise way above today´s avarage "fancy renderers" quality...

There are also paintings and drawings exceeding the quality of any renderer.

This is just some people sharing their thoughts on maxwell, no comparison at all.

like a great man on discreet beta forum said:
you cant compare renders to whic is better; its like comparing apple and an orange, they are different but you can squizee juice from both of them.
