LOL 100mb is inadaquate to the extreme, even back in 1995 I had a 1gb drive for maps and scenes Im also a one man show atm and have approx, 200gig for scenes, 800gig for maps, 1.5tb for renders (stills and ani's) and another 1.5tb for rendered and stock video.

Even in Canada PATA and SATA drives are cheep to deploy and great for backups and mirror raids.

*edit* come to think of it Im adding another pair of 250gb SATA drives tomorrow
    Cheers,

Your system admin is way, way, way to conservative! Prices for storage are cheap ,cheap ,cheap! With that many people working at your company if they can't afford to get you a dedicated 120 gig drive for your stuff maybe they shouldn't be in business! Sorry to sound harsh, but look at what the one man shows have for storage and she is complaining about 19 odd gigs? Tell your admin to get into the 21st ccentury and a grip on the reality of 3D assets! I think it is totally unfair to you to put any kind of limit on what assets you have. It's not like you're storing viruses or something! Geesh!

How much is a 180 gig HD these days? Under $100 US? I've seen them on sale for $50 after rebate. Either she's lost or your boss is really uptight...

1 TB drive should be here before x-mas, for now, 350 GB, nearly full, and lots of CD/DVD archives

We dont use networked maps, proxies etc... everything is dumped on backburner every submition, also we keep backburner Archive which backes up everynight on 300Gb External Seagate drive... oh...thats 900Gb all together now... generally, our office HDD capacity comes to 4Tb...

We just upgraded our server to a RAID 5 800GB total storage (3+1 400GB drives).
One week on and it failed! Can you believe it?????

We have had it re-built with 500GB total storage (3+1 x 25GB drives)

Bloody computers - I hate them!
              Kind Regards,

                Wow you said MB

my main rendering rig has 600 GB in it 1 300GB main drive raided over a fe wothers...

My file server that hold my files I think is pushing 18 - 250GB drives they keep adding to it, but it stores more than my library. My library is pushing 18GB now!
                Thanks

hey guys, were looking to upgrade to a 2.5 tb file/frame server, and am wondering what you guys use for hardware? We're thinking fiber, especially for our compositing stations, does anybody have any experience with this?
