Does anyone know of an addon for Outlook Express that will show a pop-up or something when mail comes in. Thanks.

It should do it on its own by putting an icon in the system tray

Your right it does do that, but I keep the . I was hoping that there was somwething that would pop up on the screen. I get engrossed in the work and forget to check my email. I guess I'm just lazy.

I've been wishing Outlook would do this like it used to as well. The latest only pops up a window in the corner of the screen for 30 seconds... but if I'm away from my desk I miss it and often times forget to check.

This is what Microsoft calls progress. I'm sitting here pining for Office 2000!

I'm not sure about express but outlook has the the option to "Display a notification message when new mail arrives" which is a pop-up.

I don't use it because it can steal focus from apps like in the middle of 10 mins. of photoshop selection. :P

I use the option, but unlike in years past when you had to acknowledge the dialog and close it, now it disappears after 30 seconds whether you click or not.

Email is a bother... I keep my laptop next to my workstation for web (err, who am I kidding, messageboard) browsing, email, IM, etc., etc. God knows test renders equate to a lot of downtime I can spend "researching."

Trust me, that's not a bad thing... when you start getting interrupted every 5 minutes by email, or coworkers, or telephone calls, your productivity goes down the tubes.

Ya'll are probably right. I didn't think about messing up Photoshop, but I can see how it could.

Poor bastards will just to wait until I can remember to check it.

The number of times I hear about people working in offices where everyone IMs everyone else whenever they have a question or the slightest problem... crikey. What the hell? Haven't there already been enough studies about how corporate productivity has been completely sapped by email?

I'm gonna get a cabin in the woods before I'm 30. I figure by then I'll have to unplug or go bonkers.
