I actually had to stop using my dual 2.8 xeon for DR renderings. The renders were slower if I used the zeon than if I render with just my other 5 amd's. 3 3800's 1 4200, 1 dual dual core 265 opteron. I have a gig network as well. Strange!
Tony
tony can you tell us render times for the dual dual core 265 compared with the 4200.
can you also tell us how much they cost (just for comparison)
thanks
gili
Here is what I spent on the opteron system. No video card.
Window XP 64 bit $159.00
Antec TP2 559 w eps sli atx12v2.01 $87.00
4 gig Corsair TWINX2048RE $596.00
WD740GD 74GB 10,000PRM Raptor $167.00
Asus K8N-DL motherboard $255.00
2 - AMD Dual Opteron 265 $656.00
Shipping $40.00
$1960.00
The render time on the infamous benchmark scene.
Dual Opteron 265 - 3 min. 6.9 sec
X2 4200 - 5 min 15 sec.
This is using 1.48.03 vray version. Stock speed on both computers. Both running XP 64 bit with 4 gig of memory.
I can't remember what the total cost for the 4200 was. I can't find my damn receipt. Seems like it was around the same price back in June when I bought the parts.
I'm going to rma my motherboard on the opteron because I can't OC the damn thing. If I could bump up the speed to 2200, same as the 4200, it would really scream.
try looking on the Asus site or forums for what those errors mean. Might be worth while... basically it sounds like the board is screwed. Whatever you do dont tell them you overclocked... bye bye warranty
