[quote="flipside"]The only similarity between lost and twin peaks is that you wanna know what's going on. For the rest the two series are completely different in every aspect imo.

Yeah, I only meant similar in that each week it seems the script writers are making it up as they go along, and are in fact only one episode ahead of the viewers.

The creators of the show said they have enough stuff to fill 8 seasons.

BTW, the VFX of the pilot episode were created by Digital Dimension. Can someone confirm if they used 3dsmax and VRAY for that? I am positive about 3dsmax, not sure about vray though.

The monster is a recombination of Vincent's (the dog) genoma in the island lab.

anyone read Philip Jose Farmer's SF books?
Lost reminds me of them somehow - the Riverworld series and the World of Tiers - (Matrix borrowed from first Riverworld book as well)

These are some of the websites that are mentioned in the Hanso Foundation "commercials" that run during the showing of Lost. I suppose it is some sort of ARG(Alternate Reality Game), but if you need your Lost "fix," there is a lot to sort through at those websites!

BTW, these are all legit websites that are intended to be an extension of the TV series.

I spend far too much time doing / researching 3d stuff... if you're in the same boat www.lost-forums.com has some good info on the website thing in the "Offsite Media" --> "Lost Experience Webgame." Also, there's www.thelostexperience.com

My wife last night was like, "Why don't you figure the codes out for yourself?" Should I be worried that I responded, "I'd rather spend the time I'd figure the codes out doing 3d or compositing..." to which she replied, "Typical..."

Anyway, my theory. The last episode of the show zooms out from a TV screen in a studio, where someone from Hanso/Dharma is standing looking into the camera (Marvin Candle?). They tell us (the audience) that they appreciate our involvement in their psychological experiment of TV as a rich-media delivery environment. Then the cast from the island comes out and gives a bow, also thanking us.

Sometimes it seems to me like we (as the audience) are the experiment. The numbers mean more to us (since we're always looking for them in everything in the show) than to the characters on the show. They keep experimenting on us with the website, the books, the TV show... with the Pearl hatch thing, it made it look like the Swan hatch was a psych experiment... then after the finale it looks like the other way around. Are they leading us with this line of reasoning to show that both assumptions are correct - the Pearl is a psych experiment, and the Swan is also... only experiments on us the audience?

haha... indeed... isn't the tube where the messages get sent a parallel with people writing observations on forums and blogs?

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not (damn text boards and smileys!)... but I don't think I've spoiled anything. If you can figure out the plot of the finale from my post kudos to you since I never said what actually happened. And no one actually knows which is the experiment after the finale anyway (or beforehand, for that matter). If I figured out the whole show... whoops!

That's probably the beauty of the whole thing - no one will know how the show ends until the show ends. I liked one of the recent podcasts the show producers Damon Lindelhoff and Carlton Cuse did when they said each has one set of secrets that the other doesn't know. Damon said something like, "I'll trade you how Locke got into the wheelchair if you tell me what the smoke monster is."

And if you missed episodes, you watch the last 5 episodes at abc.com for free anyway.

i read somewhere else someone who said, "wednesday night is to the audience what the button is to the Losties."

The difference between the messages from the pearl and the messages on the forums is that the last ones are read by Lost writers and sometimes, "adapted" as if they were honoring the losties
