i gess if he showed a serious repreenssion to the player who knoked out of the match cristiano ronaldo, the game might have turned quite diferently, and what about the lack of fair play when the referee stoped a portuguese dangerous offensive play to bring on assistence to a player and the dutch players didn return the ball??
but the biggest laugh was the second yellow wich caused the second red for the portuguese....that was a real messs!

i agree he could/should have taxed that tacle with a red card especially when you later learn that ronaldo whas inable to continue cause of it.

the second red card for portugal that was deco, right ?. that was exactly how it should be. by the rules you are not allowed to pick up the ball and thereby obstruct a fast freekick. About the fair plair thing i agree, but this has nothing to with the judge.....this is just the up to the morale of the 2 competing teams....right ?

absolutely...except the card should go for the dutch for his agressive response...right?that would be more rasonable...but this decision doesnt match with the ref judging line all over the game...right?

my point exactly...this and the agression on ronaldo made the portuguese side with one man less boil up...this his the first yellow for deco, when after they deny returning the ball deco tackles the dutch and...possibly gets away with....just an yellow...this was the turning point for the match i think...it was quite an interesting match to watch till then...afterwards it was just lak of tactics, sense and intelegence on the pitch...LOL

anyway, i dont wanna look like i m standing up for the portuguese side, as the performance of the team is stilll way too low regarding their potencial...the downside for me was that i expected the netherlands to be way more offensive, as this i don t wanna lose morale in this part of the competition is too boring for 90 min of fottball match...

He let the game slip, and by when he woke up, all the cards were just about needed.
Set the tune early.
Two sent off within the first 10 minutes, and see if someone behaves stupidly.
But he not only missed the timing to pull those cards out, but also missed a BIG amount of incorrect action.
What about that most obvious Figo headbutting?
That's a full 4 days off. With or without injury to the other player. Figo is an icon of football. What went through his mind?
He's not like he's 23 years old (gentle poke at DeRossi, the italian elbower).
And the ref missed that completely. Him AND the linesmen.
Simply silly.
This is how the rigged games i serie A looked, i'm sorry to say.

ur not thinking as if u were on the pitch, nor looking to the whole match...this head butting cause another yellow and consequentely red for the dutch player, as he reacted exactly as figo thought he would...it s a sad behaviour, but quite common, though this was way too extreme, in all international competitions...he was picking on them, playing with a nervous side...
again this didn t seem to come out too obvious, as the all match was rich on this mutual agressions everytime the whistle was blown by the ref...

for me the one who make me feel on the floor was the agression of nuno valente on robben inside the portuguese area throwing his feet against is chest...that was waaaaay out....

yes, i meant to point out one OBVIOUS event, by a very famous player. trhe whole game was a mess of dirty tricks, from both sides

in my point of view Holand strategy was to kill first the magic and irreverence of Cristiano Ronaldo and they get that, he have to be substitute , but Portugal have great players in all positions, we are a team and we have done the home work well done .

I totaly agree with paulo, tha Figo butthead isn't normal but there is a reason, It seems that Khalid Boulahrouz have like a contract on Cristiano Ronaldo.
The first fault is amazing!! the referee have make the mistake at first with just a yellow card for him.
Van Basten have say before the worldcup that his own team is too young and they will be ready for the european championship.
But that's strange that Figo and Deco have loose their mind a moment.
BTW we aren't on the playground so...

its funny really...ive just been surfing around to see comments from different countries.

almoust a unanymous danish press thinks the ref did fairly well/ really good and inforced the strict directions from FIFA. even polls on dif. userforums tells the same.

going to england they all seem to think the ref was, lets just say, not so good ( i wonder why, as it really benefits them major )

german sites....hmmm my german knowlegde, ist sehr slecht, but i could make out the blatter have officialy critisised the ref. ( dunno if blatter is the right person to do that )

during the game i can talk for my self i was very nervous, so i can imagine how the players were! It was a very hard game its exciting but not the most beautifull game , it is not proper for cardiacs.

i am, oh i am....
as of now, i doubt HIGHLY the red card onto Materazzi (he hit our own player...), and am not happy with ozzies just getting yellows (a few so far) and NOT one red
Still, if us italians don't suffer greatly, we do not like it.
there. just lost the head now.
