poor England lost a player DURING the Portugal game (and I don't mean a sympathetic 'poor', I mean a pathetic 'poor'). Man it's hard supporting England. I hope the players are now off enjoying their holidays

@lele....it is indeed plain sad...have you seen the moving footage ? If that's a punch then any team taking part would have to play with 3 players and without goalies....that's not a punch...and when everyone expected the fifa to NOT sentence him (and the argentinian player saying he was NOT punched or didnt even notice) THAT is just sad if you ask me

I agree, instinct.
If the other involved person declared he wasn't hit, and the player denies hitting him, FIFA should not have punished him, or rebuked those declaration and strenghten the punishment.
In fact, what they did was to punish him, but "lightly".
BAD sense of measure.In fact, it looks like an admission of guilt from the FIFA itself.
He will be off for the all-important game of tonight, and that fuels all sorts of speculation.
What i didn't like, and still can't digest, is the bout of easy racism and common place crap that's been thrown our way.
It IS an issue between FIFA (and it's "no tolerance" policy), and the German team.
I honestly cannot see the FIGC influence one thing right now, let alone a panel of FIFA judges.
As for myself, i'd rather have no fights on a pitch (or anywhere else for that matter), but sit, chill and watch us win or lose depending on how well we play.
I believe there is more honour to be gained by losing from a better opponent, than by bashing a weaker one.
This said, let's sit tight and prepare for tonite.
I am SURE you'll gain from the scandal, if not technically, surely mentally.
And if we DID influence FIFA, and the players know, they will suffer for it, and pay the due price.
Let's enjoy this.

Besides, that player has well ended the world cup: what do you do, disqualify him for the NEXT world cup?
And wouldn't that precisely demonstrate that the punch WAS given, if as a reaction?
And anyways, have it up with FIFA, not with me: i haven't seen the footage, i can just watch the pictures i find on newspapers i can read and understand, and draw OPINIONS.
As i stated above, i am sure the german coverage is way more accurate than the italian one (which literally just mentions the facts, and somewhat nebulously at that), and that's why i would love nothing more than to be able to read german.

It IS a kind of punch...but that kind of punch my dad used to give me when i used to be smaller then him :P
And throwing racism is a bit harsh...tho i disagree with it too....but it's not really racism blaming the FIGC....in the end they drew a bit of "attention" recently
Another thing that pissed me off is the fact that they announce such a descision 1 day before the actual game...and they already apologised for that...but that apologise doesnt change anything, eh ? And considering the HEAPS of money all the FIFA guys earn i'd at least expect some common sense...but then....common sense and money dont mix too well :P
