  • projection image on wall?

anyone have any tricks for faking a projected image on a wall? I was going to use a transparency map, but I think that will look funny, and it needs to be illuminated. Next I was going to try a spot with a projection map, but thought I'd see if anyone's been here before. Thanks.

Id prob try a direct light with a projection map... does it have to be animated? if not you should be able to do it quite easily in post

That's the way to go. Change light projection from round to square for more control and increase the light intensity during the tests, otherwise it can be too dim to actually adjust it.

yes light projection is a good idea. Another may be a layered texture with mapped channel 2 and another projection map to control its position. But that is if the light way dont work for some reason.

thanks guys. worked like a charm. Thanks for the rectangular projection tip! It might have taken me a while to find that one. Never done one of these before, and i've never really used projection lights for anything.

The next thing is to adjust the hotspot and falloff to get softer edges that look like a "projected" image.
