Well, max8 was smth like 100mb.
I don't need trial, as we're already using it over a week.
I must say - not bad, but we need new plugins.

just installed the trial.
i'll be damned if i can see anything new, but the viewport performance surely was improved.
snap and vertex handing is much smoother now. nice.

having recently seen a demo of it. there aint alot of obvious new looking stuff. The 64bit is the big one, and its big enough for me. The inclusion of subscription stuff is another. Oh and mentalray.

This is what you get with the demo this time:

"Trial Software Download (613 MB) – includes maps, architectural materials, help files (including tutorial documentation), and essential skills videos."

The old demo split the arch materials, help, and tutorials into seperate downloads.

I was at their (Autodesk) demo tour, oct.5, and they demonstrate only 3 things:

Way better data management / performance
MentalRay
Workflow between different products of their line :Max/Maya/MotionBuilder

Not much new features in this buildt, performance oriented mostly

How are you guys downloading this? Every link gives me the same "Error Processing Autodesk Download Request" message. I've tried both IE 6 and Firefox 1.5.

max x64bit version viewport performance is f#%&#%& awesome! almoust 3 times faster on my E6700 with geforce 7900GTX!! Compared to max 8 on AMD X2 4800 with Quadro 1500!!!

yes as far as I can see, its only 32bit! What a crock if we cant check it out in 64bit mode. Of course we should be getting our subscription max9 here pretty soon I hope.
